Pissed Painting!
Although I am convinced the majority of Picasso’s masterpieces were created with him probably being pissed.
Somehow, I don’t think my works of prosecco art are going to make it onto the walls of global museums. Maybe just the nail in the wall above the fireplace in my Surry Hills bedroom.
A perfect first date activity for providing something to talk about whilst nervously trying to impress your date.

Dangerously close to my house, literally, across the road. Cork and Chroma is a gorgeous glass-fronted concrete space allows for your creative juices to start flowing. Pick a painting of your preference and book onto the night it occurs!

Brush & Sip – $65 (Newtown)
Again, a similar concept only twice the availability with Brush & Sip with it’s two Newtown Locations. Great for a kick on opportunities with some of Newtown’s best bars and clubs after if your date goes really well. Equally, a great spot to down a drink or two if it’s needed to recover from a shockingly bad date.
Pick a painting, attend the night and paint your little heart out for 3 hours.
Mini Golf Madness
Put your shit-talking and competitive skills to the test here with this go too first date venue. Make sure to check out the weeknight deals to save some dollars too.

(Darlinghurst/Kings Cross & Newtown – other outside CBD areas available)

Funfair/childhood games/upside-down rooms.
$$$ Casino themed on the alternative course. Complete with its very own dollar air machine! (Think lets get sticky with Mickey Matilda movie)
Newtown Holey Moley
(A lot smaller than Kings X) A popular Icon themed course with Elvis, Trump being an ass, The Simpsons house and more. The second course, TV & Film! Forrest Gump, The flintstones, Spongebob and Jaws to name a few fun mini-golf holes.

Archie Brothers is an epic first date idea in Sydney. It has bowling, dodgems and arcade games. All mixed in with cocktails and burgers. Every American fairground dream, but indoors & in Sydney.

B.Lucky & Sons – Entertainment Quarter
From the owners of Holey Moley, its safe to say the guys of B.Lucky & Sons are the top dogs when it comes to combining activities and alcohol in Sydney.
A strictly 18+ bar with all the childhood memories of arcade games, old school classics, dance mats & more.
They have your weeknights covered with evening deals of double your money, unlimited games and other enticements to get you through the door.
You can pay as you go or preload money for all your arcade fun. I liked this option as you didn’t get carried away with $ games. Successfully avoiding the fast realisation you’ve spent a ridiculous amount.
Food and drinks are also available with your classic burgers, hotdogs, pizzas and sharing sides with a little Sydneysider twist.
Detective Dating Fun
The Cipher Room (Newtown)
A pretty cool, original and immersive vintage-themed escape room. I liked this independent escape room in comparison to chain companies of the same idea.
The Cipher room I found unique in that they make every part of their games – concepts, narratives, all the puzzles (electronic/wooden/graphic/magnetic), sound design, lighting – themselves and are independently owned and run. Everyone loves a small scale local business.
A great one for a double date or just see if you can deal with your potential other half in pressurised situations!
The Cipher Room starts at $40 and price goes up and down depending on the size of the group.
Musical Bingo – Soda Factory
Every Tuesday from 7pm head on down to the Soda Factory for Musical Bingo. A great first date idea in Sydney to show off your superior knowledge in music!
Made even better with their Happy Hour running til 8pm, followed by drink deals and $2 mini hotdogs.
